Cambridge, 6th July 2016: KisanHub has raised over $1million in its latest round of financing to support the next phase of growth for its “Agtech” farming enterprise software platform.
The $1 million seed round was led by Notion Capital with current customer and strategic partner, NIAB, also contributing. These funds will be used for R&D, sales and customer delivery. KisanHub already has a user base of over one thousand farmers and multiple large enterprises.
KisanHub is helping drive a massive technology-driven shift in agriculture, both in terms of the growing of produce as well as supply chain management. KisanHub works at the intersection of precision agriculture, big data, cloud computing, machine learning and mobile to deliver clear decision points to agri-enterprises and their farmers - all through a SaaS platform that integrates with the enterprise’s needs and existing processes. KisanHub makes sense of disparate operational and agronomic data to simplify complex decisions to make agriculture predictable and profitable. This helps farming enterprises and farmers move from intuition-based decision-making to analytical decision-making, helping them grow more:use less.
Giles Barker – COO and Co-Founder
“With global agriculture faced with increased populations, limited resources and increased regulatory pressures. There is a growing need for solutions to help farmers deliver sustainable growth. This investment will give us the ability to enhance and deliver our offering to a greater number of these farmers both in the UK and internationally.”
Notion Capital - Patrick Norris
"KisanHub's ability to leverage the cloud to combine disparate and complex data sets, to then provide actionable intelligence to large scale agricultural enterprises via a SaaS platform, positions it uniquely in Europe to transform the way global agricultural enterprises make decisions to increase yield and reduce costs. We are very excited to be backing an outstanding team and we look forward to working with them to build a very successful business"
NIAB – Dr Tina Barsby CEO
“NIAB has been working in partnership with KisanHub to deliver solutions to inform crop management and business processes in the agricultural and horticultural sectors. We have seen the potential in combining our strength in crop science with KisanHub’s expertise in assimilating, aggregating and visualising datasets; from twitter feeds to weather observations and on-field sensor data. The evidence from this practical experience underpins NIAB’S belief in KisanHub’s potential and the decision to invest.”
KisanHub is headquartered in Cambridge, UK with operations in Pune, India and was founded by Dr Sachin Shende (CEO) and Giles Barker (COO) having been accelerated out of the Cambridge University Judge Business School’s Accelerate Program in 2013. KisanHub is helping drive a massive technology-driven shift in agriculture, both in terms of the growing of produce as well as supply chain management. KisanHub works at the intersection of precision agriculture, big data, cloud computing, machine learning and mobile to deliver clear decision points to agri-enterprises and their farmers. KisanHub makes sense of disparate data to simplify complex decisions to make agriculture predictable and profitable thus helping farming enterprises and farmers move from intuition-based decision-making to analytical decision-making. KisanHub also supplies data to all upstream and downstream members of the food supply chain to prove food provenance and increase production efficiency from Farmer to Retailer.
